I just finished reading the terrible ESPN story about University of South Florida Wide Receiver Eric Plancher, who died after trying to finish a rather strenuous workout, which reportedly had head coach George O'Leary screaming at him to finish it, even as Plancher was trying to breath.
In my view, that alone is gounds for a lawsuit.
I'm personally sick and tired of the football coaching "meathead" ideal that says you have to struggle and force yourself to finish a workout routine. Look, a coach should be more concerned that their players don't have hardened arteries or any kind of heart problem. I don't care if the player's 19 years old, check on the person; To read that stuff is heartbreaking!
I think George O'Leary, who's famous for not getting the Notre Dame Coaching job for lying on his resume, should turn a reverse and appologize to the Plancher family rather than trying to cover his butt.
That stinks.

NFL DRAFT BIBLE DAILY DOSE 3/22
KENTWAN BALMER INJURY UPDATE
North Carolina DT Kentwan Balmer is fully recovered from the hamstring injury he suffered at the Senior Bowl. NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports Balmer will take part in the Tar Heels' Pro Day on April 1. Balmer reportedly has private workouts/visits scheduled with the Eagles, Cowboys, Vikings, and Jets.
COLSTON UDERGOES SURGERY
Marques Colston recently had arthroscopic surgery on the left knee that bothered him throughout last season, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune. Colston is also rehabbing from a wrist injury he suffered in the final game of the 2007 season, but expects to be full speed in his training by next month. "Unfortunately I'm a vet to the surgeries, so I know exactly what it takes. I've just got to be patient with it," said Colston, who has kept up his conditioning on the stationary bike, among other methods. "I had a lot of irritation going on in there throughout the season. Now's the time to clean it up and get healthy."
MIKE WILLIAMS UPDATE
Mike Williams has been instructed by Tennessee Titans head coach Jeff Fisher to be at a certain weight or risk being released, according to the Nashville City Paper. Williams, a former first-round pick of the Detroit Lions, was signed by the Titans in November after being released by Oakland. Speculation was that Williams' weight was more than 260 pounds at the time of his signing. The Titans are believed to want Williams in the 235 to 240 range.
ALBERT TO SKIP WORKOUTS
Albert Haynesworth hasn't yet made up his mind as to whether he will report to Baptist Sports Park on Monday with his teammates for the beginning of the Tennessee Titans' off-season conditioning program, according to the Nashville City Paper. Off-season work is not mandatory, except for organized team activities (OTAs), but players are strongly encouraged to attend. Franchised players are not required to participate in OTAs and often use not reporting in the off-season as leverage in negotiations.
PAUL POSLUSZNY UPDATEE
The most eagerly anticipated new face in the Buffalo Bills defense in 2008 is linebacker Paul Posluszny, according to Pro Football Weekly. Posluszny, who broke his forearm in Week 3 last season, has been an active presence around the team facilities throughout the season, unlike many injured players who slink into the background. His hard-nosed style fits in well with the Bills' mantra, and his heady play provides the team with what it believes will be the consummate defensive centerpiece.
